AI assists our production process, but it is not our standard of truth.
Writing and editing
AI may be used to help produce an early article draft. A human editor fact-checks the draft, reviews the cited material, and makes the final editorial decisions before publication. We do not publish AI-generated claims as fact without verification against the underlying sources.
Images
Every image published with our articles is an AI-generated illustration or conceptual image. It is not a photograph of an actual person, place, organization, crime scene, or event. Images should never be treated as documentary evidence.
Accountability
Human editorial responsibility remains with Behind Japan. If an error appears, our Corrections Policy applies regardless of whether AI was involved in the production process.
